Nelson Mandela University provides comfortable on-campus accommodation in residences to students who comply with all requirements for admission to Nelson Mandela University and who are registered as full-time students and are not employed on a full-time basis.

Priority shall be given to applicants residing outside of the Nelson Mandela Metropole if the demand exceeds the availability of residence accommodation.

Special consideration will be given to applicants between the ages of 17 to 20 years if the demand for residence accommodation exceeds the availability of space.
Off campus

Some students prefer living off campus with relatives or friends to benefit from a home-away-from home situation.

Off-campus accommodation options include renting flats and houses or boarding at nearby private residences.

International students

International students have the choice of staying in either off-campus or on-campus accommodation (residences).
The off-campus accommodation is situated in the suburbs surrounding Nelson Mandela University's Summerstrand campuses. Off-campus accommodation is within walking distance of the various campuses.
